The Two Types of Knowledge

Interessante Unterscheidung: Planck-Wissen und Chaffeur-Wissen:
"In this world we have two kinds of knowledge. One is Planck knowledge, the people who really know. They’ve paid the dues, they have the aptitude. And then we’ve got chauffeur knowledge.

They have learned the talk. They may have a big head of hair, they may have fine temper in the voice, they’ll make a hell of an impression.

But in the end, all they have is chauffeur knowledge. I think I’ve just described practically every politician in the United States."

Writing Challenge: Create a Link Post for Your Blog

With 70 More Selling Days Left; What’s Your Plan?

"What’s your plan to finish strong/stronger this year?

What are the things you’ve done this year that have worked and should be repeated next year?"

Humans of New York

Humans of New York ist inzwischen fester Bestandteil meiner täglichen Lektüre.
"I thought it would be really cool to create an exhaustive catalogue of New York City’s inhabitants, so I set out to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers and plot their photos on a map."
Im Sommer war Brandon Stanton in Iran und Pakistan. Auch dort sprach er mit Menschen. Herausgekommen sind lesenswerte Kurzporträts. Bemerkenswert fand ich unter anderem folgende Beobachtung:
"It’s not that terrorism, patriarchy, and violence aren’t real problems in Pakistan. They exist and the country is battling these issues every single day. Pakistanis are very much aware of the extremism in their midst. The problem is that so many people seem to only be aware of that extremism. Because just as in the hypothetical example above—the other 99.99% of life just doesn’t make the news. When there’s only room in the newspaper for a single column about Pakistan, it’s going to be filled with the most compelling story. And unfortunately, that tends to be the most violent story."
